FireFly: (n) 1) A small flying insect with one turn signal stuck on; 2) A lively, upbeat traditional string band, playing a variety of Celtic, American, International, and French-Canadian traditional fiddle tunes -- lively jigs, reels and marches; and soft, romantic waltzes.

FireFlies (Band members L to R: Jim Mead, Jim Broden, Sue Mead, Patricia Kernan. w/caller Paul Rosenberg)

With the talents of Jim Broden (fiddle), Patricia Kernan (flute, penny whistle), Jim Mead (guitar, feet percussion), Sue Mead (mandolin, fiddle) -- and occasional guest musicians -- the FireFlies bring a lively toe-tapping, can't-sit-still tempo to contras, squares, circle and international folk dances -- be it in a barn, living room, social hall, or back yard....the music makes you move!

The FireFlies can be caught locally in the NY Capital District area, the north woods of the Adirondacks, New York's southern tier, and the mountains and valleys of Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Often working with dance caller extraordinaire, Paul Rosenberg, the FireFlies play for community and private events, such as:
family reunions & celebrations, wedding rehearsal dinner/dance, wedding receptions, anniversaries, birthday parties (all ages!), graduations, back yard picnics, Girl Scout and youth group events, schools, churches, summer camps, community festivals, harvest dances, apple festivals, winter "cabin fever" dances and just about anything you can think of -- they do it all.
